About - Getting Started

Snowsport England is the recognised governing body for Snowsport in England. As the governing body for English skiers and snowboarders SSE is recognised by Sport England, the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR) and the British Olympic Association. It is the U.K. member of the International Federation of Ski Instructors. SSE is a Federation of member clubs and associated individuals with a current aggregate membership of 100,000 skiers.

Recognised and directly grant aided by Sport England, Snowsport England was given responsibility for fostering and promoting the interests of English skiers and all aspects of their sport in England and overseas, through its members and interested agencies in the public and private sectors.

The coaching award scheme supports the sport by training and grading coaches that work as various levels within clubs and organisations. This includes instructors providing short-term foundation training on artificial ski slopes and coaches who work with skiers on a long term basis (on artificial ski slopes and on snow).

With well over half a million skiers and snowboarders visiting ski slopes and mountain country to take part in Alpine, Snowboarding, Cross-Country, Touring, Ski Touring, Racing and Freestyle, Snowsport England has the job of servicing these interests. As well as serving the needs of recreational participants, it also prepares representative squads and teams and handles the training of coaches, performers and officials.
