Aimee Fuller qualifies for World Cup Slopestyle finals, Air+Style begins in Innsbruck, British Ski Cross, Snowboard Cross, Aerials and Telemark also in World Cup action

After a busy few days, the hectic competition schedule continues for the GB Park and Pipe team who are now in Mammoth, USA competing in the next World Cup.

GB Park and Pipe

For the Ski Halfpipe Madi Rowlands battled the windy conditions, to put down two solid runs, finishing 5th in her heat, just missing the opportunity to compete in Finals, placing her 13th overall. Rowan Cheshire was just behind Rowlands in their heat and finished 14th    overall. Molly Summerhayes came 11th in her heat and 21st  overall in her first World Cup since injury last year.  

 

In the men’s competition, Murray Buchan finished 11th in his heat, placing 24th overall with  Pete Speight 15th, finishing 29th overeall, and Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon 17th, 31st. .

 

Madi Rowlands went on to compete in Ski Slopestyle, where she narrowly missed out on finals, placing 6th in her heat, with Katie Summerhayes on her tail in 7th placing them 10th and 11th overall respectively. Izzy Atkin was just behind in 15th, a great show from the GB Park and Pipe Ladies.

 

The Men’s Ski Slopestyle contest was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, they hope to run the event tomorrow.

 

In the Ladies’ Snowboard Slopestyle contest, Aimee Fuller finished in an impressive 3rd in her heat, progressing her through to finals which have been re scheduled to tomorrow. In the Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle contest Matt McCormick put in a great performance, but a tiny mistake on the last feature placed him 10th in his heat, and 25th overall.

 

Billy Morgan, Rowan Coultas, Katie Ormerod are currently in Europe and will be in action at the prestigious Air+Style event in Innsbruck this weekend. Qualification is Friday and Finals on Saturday. Tune in to Ski Sunday to catch the highlights on BBC2, 18.15 Sunday 5th February.

 

Delancey British Alpine Team

 

Following another top five finish from Dave Ryding at the Parallel Slalom event in Stockholm, Sweden, Ryding will be back in action next at the Alpine World Ski Championships in St Moritz. After breezing through to the Finals, Dave narrowly missed out on another podium, just falling short to Mattias Hargin to finish 4th.

 

Ryding will join his teammates in Switzerland where the Championships start on 6th February, The British team will be officially announced on Monday.

 

British Nordic

 

At the Nordic World U23 and Junior Championships in Park City, Utah Fern Cates claimed 39th in the U23 Sprint Classic and James Clugnet was 41st in the equivalent men’s competition. In the Junior Sprint Classic, Duncan Gibb was 58th on Monday which followed a 68th in the 10km Freestyle on Wednesday. Yesterday saw Fern finish 43rd in the Ladies 10k Freestyle in U23 category and Duncan 68th in the Men’s Junior event.

 

In the Ski Jumping competition, Robert Lock came 54th, with twin brother Jake finishing in 48th in the Men’s HS100.

 

British Ski and Snowboard Cross

 

Today saw the start of the next Snowboard Cross World Cup in Bansko, Bulgaria where Zoe Gillings finished 19th and Maisie Potter 27th. .

 

Emily Sarsfield and Pam Thorburn are also in action in the next Ski Cross World Cup in Feldberg, Germany. Qualification has been cancelled today due to poor weather, and the competition will cut straight into Finals tomorrow.   

 

Emma Peters has been in action at the Ski Cross Europa Cup in Bardonecchia, Italy, where she finished 14th on Wednesday,

 

British Aerials Team

 

Lloyd Wallace is back in action tonight in Deer Valley, USA where he will tackle his next World Cup, looking to match his 7th place finish last season.

 

British Telemark

 

Following Jasmin Taylor’s double World Cup podium finish last weekend, she is back in action alongside Louis Hatchwell and Colin Dixon in the Bad Hindelang/ Oberjoch World Cup in Germany. The Sprint is on Saturday, with the Team Sprint on Sunday.
