Four new champions prevail...

As snow begins to fall on The BRITS winter home of Laax, Switzerland, it was time to kick off the season in style by crowning the 2016 British Indoor Champions in Manchester. As the nation's skiers and snowboarders descended on the north west, Chill Factore’s park shapers were putting the finishing touches on arguably the most progressive park ever seen at an indoor champs.
This weekend sees the start of the 2016/17 FIS Ski World Cup series, as the action gets underway in Soelden, Austria with the Ladies’ and Men’s Giant Slalom races.
Delancey British Alpine Team athletes Alex Tilley and Charlie Raposo will be out of the start gates on Saturday and Sunday respectively, with Soelden being Raposo’s World Cup debut.
Snowsport England’s Liability Insurance
We have received some recent queries about our liability insurance cover.
In order to clarify the situation, we can confirm that:
UK Snowsports (UKSS) has gone global, with RAW Snowsports, headed up by Mike Barker, now delivering UKSS instructor courses in Dubai.
Snowsport England Tutor Mike Barker, who is now based in Dubai, was asked to run UKSS ski instructor training courses at the giant indoor ski centre, Ski Dubai.
The first courses are already well subscribed, with the best sign ups being on the UKSS Foundation Course aimed at 14-16 years old. This is the same course as a standard Foundation Course, but aimed at a younger market.
British Ski and Snowboard, the National Governing Body for elite British snowsports, are delighted to announce the appointment of Dan Hunt as Performance Director.
We recently announced that Jamie Horner had joined the Snowsport England board and had also agreed to act as temporary chair. Our recruitment process is now complete and two more director announcements will follow shortly. The Snowsport England board will, with our new directors, be very strong.
As the ‘30 Days of Snowsport’ initiative (www.30daysofsnowsport.org.uk) reaches its midway point, hundreds of people across England have already given skiing or snowboarding a go for the first time, as slopes nationwide continue to offer free or discounted taster and recreational ski & snowboard sessions.

The London International Snowsports Trade Exchange (LISTEX) 2016, which took place at The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead at the end of September, saw over 130 professionals from the UK and international snowsports industry come together for two days of networking, meetings and forum discussions.
