Exciting opportunity with England Alpine Squad

Snowsport England are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Alpine Ski Coach to take on the role of Head Coach to help develop and support our Alpine Squad for 14-21 year olds.

This is a part time role and will involve delivering in the following key areas:

 

The Job Specification

  • Keeping abreast of international best practice for the development of young athletes and ensure this is reflected in the squad activities. 
  • Suggest new squad events and activities based on latest key developments.
  • Liaise closely with the BSS programme / performance director to create a clear pathway between SSE and BSS squads.
  • Be a link to the athlete's own alpine coaches, providing feedback where required.
  • Actively engage with alpine coaches from other organisations to receive feedback on squad activities and explain rationales behind those activities.
  • Help with the coordination of the ACE and Skills Quest weekends (3 weekends for 2017) and be in attendance to lead each event
  • Develop a selection process with criteria with the Alpine Squad committee
  •  Be the SSE representative on BSS selection panels

 

The Person Specification 
•  Demonstrate a deep understanding of technical and tactical knowledge and experience of Alpine Skiing 
• An understanding of coaching pedagogy and how coaching behaviour and practice can support learning/skill acquisition across periodised programmes, especially where applied to teenage athletes.
• Evidence an ability to positively impact high potential athletes. 
• Good leadership skills with a proven ability to inspire and engage others in a long term vision. 
• Demonstrates great judgement, diplomacy, and creative approaches to challenge traditional practices and assumptions and provide evidenced based solutions. 
• Ability to listen effectively and question intelligently in order to creatively explore challenges and propose solutions. 
• Highly motivated with personal integrity and the ability to invoke trust and respect. 
• A high work ethic with great attention to detail. 
• Full driving licence, own car and able to drive in the UK. 
• A satisfactory DBS check is required. 
• Minimum UKCP Alpine level 2 qualified
