Home Nations to take over the running of the

Alpine Racing Development Teams

Following decisions made last week, to rationalise the organisation and help in the preparation of our athletes for the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Home Nations are to take responsibility for the running of the male and female Alpine Development Teams.

In a statement from Snowsport England and Scotland CEO’s Tim Fawke and Jane Harvey said “ We have been running very successful Junior Teams for a number of years now. It seemed eminently suitable, that as most of our athletes have spent their earlier years racing and training with the Home Nations, we take on the running of the Development Team due to the current situation. As the Dev Team athletes are usually 18+ they have put their education on hold and are racing and training full time.

This means that we will be looking for an experienced coach who will be able to develop the athletes to the next level. In due course we will be advertising the post but if there is anyone out there who is keen to work with development level athletes, is enthusiastic about the sport and a good motivator please don’t hesitate to contact me for more information.

The Team will need to be based in Europe and we are actively looking for suitable accommodation. It’s about 10 years since we last ran a base in Europe so again if anyone knows of or has, the kind of accommodation that they think might be suitable for a seasons let to accommodate 8/10 athletes we would love to hear from them

There is a lot to do before the start of the season but we are looking forward to the challenge”.
