Programme

We were very pleased to welcome so many of you back to Bormio for the 23rd English Alpine Championships.

The 2019 programme featured many of the elements that have made it the most popular competition on the British calendar, but with your support we were also able to introduce some new elements into the programme to keep it fresh and provide as much value as possible for everyone who comes.

We very much hope that you will be able to join us again next time - keep an eye out for announcements!

Opening Parade

The parade to open the 23rd English Alpine Championships was well attended, with the procession of clubs following the marching band through the streets to the town square.

Team Captains' Meetings

The Team Captains' Meetings for each race take place at 17:15 (for GBR/BASS races) and 18:00 (FIS races) except for the first evening (Saturday 16th) when they are 30 minutes later (17:45 and 18:30) due to the Opening Parade taking place. Meetings are held in the auditorium adjacent to the Race Office, which will be sign-posted.

Referees, Course Setters and Fore-runners

Many thanks to all the coaches who volunteered for course setting and referee, and to those who took advantage of the opportunity to fore-run. We hope that we managed to give everyone at least some of the experience they asked for.

Race Programme 2019 - Children

The extended programme for 2019 offered separate Super-G races for U14 and U16 to allow us to set courses with each age group in mind. We were also pleased to be able to give U10/12s a third race this year, their own parallel slalom to round off the week's racing!

Vitalini Speed Test

The 'speed test' run by our sponsor Vitalini is fun for all. This one is all about speed - just how fast can you go? Compare your top speed with your friends and rivals!

Individual Parallel Competition for U10/12

Newly introduced for 2019, the Championship week this year was rounded off by an exciting new event - an individual head-to-head parallel competition for our youngest group of competitors. The competition took place on the Stella Alpina piste at Bormio 2000, and hopefully provided everyone with an exciting spectacle as we watched the future stars of ski racing showing us what they can do.

The first part of the competition was the qualifying round, where each competitor had a run down each course to record their fastest time. The fastest group from each age category then went through to the knockout stage, where it is all about beating your rival in a genuine head-to-head race.
