Basingstoke Bullet signs head sponsor

In a joint agreement with the British Ski Academy (BSA) and its principal sponsor, Artemis Investment Management, Laurie Taylor (age 22) will promote Artemis on personal head gear on the 2018/2019 FIS Alpine World Cup tour. Laurie trained with the BSA from 2008 to 2016 before joining the Delancey British Alpine Ski Team and has now been announced as a member of the full-time World Cup squad with fellow slalom Olympian Dave Ryding. Laurie's personal sponsorship forms part of an on-going relationship with his old club.

"BSA picked me up as a young racer on dry slope and brought me to the snow. I owe a huge amount to them developing me as a racer. They even kept me skiing when I couldn't afford to, letting me wash dishes in the kitchen and help out where I could. They couldn't get rid of me. As well as development on the hill, BSA is where I learnt to prepare my skis, manage my time with school work, put the hard work into fitness and how to improve my strength, conditioning and nutrition. I had a lot of fun working hard and learnt a lot along the way.”

Laurie finished 26th in the PyeongChang Olympic slalom and is ranked third in the world for age 22 and younger. He is due to start the World Cup slalom tour with bib 35. His first event will be in Levi (Finland) on 18 November. Can Dave Ryding's young apprentice score results in the top flight of the World Cup tour in his first full season at the elite level?

"BSA has a great atmosphere run by people who genuinely love skiing and have a serious passion for the sport. Built to help you, not just as a racer, but a skier as a whole. I spent 10 years there and will always see BSA as a family to me and a home away from home.”
