UKCP - Snowboard Level 1 Coach


If you want to put something back into the sport that you love, then the UKCP Level 1 award may be for you.
Designed for working with children (specifically 5-12 years old) and entry standard competitors. The UKCP Coach Level 1 snowboard is able to plan and run individual training sessions appropriate for developing and challenging their athletes’ skills.

Aimed at coaching youngsters between the age of 5-12. Level 1 coaches are able to operate independently in a closed environment (artificial surfaces: dry slope and indoor snow-dome) but must be under direct supervision of a Level 2 Licensed Coach or above. In a mountain environment the supervisor is responsible for the safe conduct of the lesson and must be in a position to intervene in order to prevent inappropriate actions by the Level 1 Licensed Coach.


This award has the following core components:

• The UKCP Level 1 training course, this is delivered at a local ski centre and takes 3 days. On successful completion of this unit, and subject to registration further requirements listed below candidates are licensed at level 1 .Candidates must be at least 16 years of age.



To be licenced all coaches and instructors must also:
• Be registered with Snowsport England
• Hold an appropriate first aid certificate
• Have an appropriate DBS - see DBS disclosures
• Have attended a safeguarding children in sport course
• Attend an appropriate update course every three years.
