Tim Hollingsworth appointed new Chief Executive at Sport England

Tim Hollingsworth has been appointed as Sport England’s new Chief Executive.

Tim is currently Chief Executive of the British Paralympic Association, a role he has held since 2011. He replaces Jennie Price, who announced in May that she would be leaving Sport England after 11 years as CEO.

The 2018 Freestyle Ski and Snowboard World Junior Championships kick off in New Zealand tomorrow with a handful of British competitors in action.

Working together - the Home Nations and BASI

As with most snowsports nations the UK has a number of organisations which are involved in the development of the sport. Each body respects and values the others. There are small, occasional overlaps in the remits but we do not seek to actively compete with each other, rather we recognise that for the sport to thrive we must work together in the spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.

How did you get involved in ski racing?



Student athletes from across England have teamed up to showcase the value of pursuing full-time education alongside performance sport. 

In a revealing short film commissioned by the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS), a range of athletes prove it is possible to thrive within a supported dual career programme. 

2018/19 Cross Country squads confirmed

The past season saw breakthrough results for the British Cross Country Team and with the announcement of the squads for 2018/19, there is the anticipation of more great performances just around the corner.

Last season Andrew Musgrave earned a World Cup podium and Britain’s highest-ever individual Olympic cross country result, while Andrew Young and James Clugnet combined for ninth in a World Cup team sprint event.

Home Nations Align Snowsports Pathway

The UK’s snowsports home nation governing bodies, Snowsport England, Snowsport Wales and Snowsport Scotland have announced a two year initiative to align their instructor, coach and leader qualifications into a single set of UK awards, fully harmonised with other training associations servicing the snowsports workforce. This new initiative comes under a backdrop of closer collaboration between the home nations, BSS and other service providers to the snowsports industry. 

Foundation assists record number of athletes

After assisting five athletes last year, the British Ski & Snowboard National Foundation has announced a record number of grants ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Thirteen individual athletes from Alpine, Cross Country, Park & Pipe, Ski Cross and Moguls will receive grants, while an additional grant has been made to the Futures Project which supports the development of freestyle skiing and snowboard skills for under-18s.

The Telegraph’s Alpine Festival Celebrates Its 45th Anniversary

This year the Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Festival will celebrate their 45th Anniversary, returning to Battersea Park 25th – 28th October 2018. With even more attractions and entertainment, this years’ event has truly evolved from a show into a “Festival” for all ages to celebrate the winter season ahead!
