Young Volunteers at Oval Ski Club

Oval Ski Club are getting children involved in the running of the club.  Like many clubs, Oval Ski Club is run solely by volunteers.  A recent plea for help saw a number of Junior members being the first to step forward.  They now have some who run the sweet/drink shop very competently  - doing stock takes and giving feedback on what sweets to stock!

She’s the slope star turned high flier who swapped her skis for the skies

Rachelle Rogers tells TASS how life as an elite athlete helped prepare her for a high-pressure career as a pilot.

When first officer Rachelle Rogers soars over the alps en route to her latest European destination don’t be surprised if she points out a favourite resort, a fabulous mountain or a familiar run. The world class skier turned commercial pilot knows the continent’s most famous mountain ranges like the back of her hand and loves nothing more than a bird’s eye view of the biggest and best alpine slopes.

ISA National Schools Races

Thank you to all the Schools (racers, teachers and parents) who attended Monday’s ISA National Schools Races and we hope that you all enjoyed the day.  Also an equally big thank you to the race organisers officials and sponsors such as MPI Brokers, Ski Bartlett and BISS Racing.

The race was the biggest yet run by the National Schools Snowsports Association with 462 entrants from over 80 schools nationally. Schools travelled to the Snow Centre Hemel Hempstead from as far afield as Cornwall and Devon! We believe it was the largest single day race run.

Norfolk Snowsports Ski & Snowboard Cross 2018

Following on from last years event, the crew of parent helpers were assembled, plans drawn up and the club booked for the bank holiday weekend. With the sun shining down on the slope, we knew it was going to be a great evening and with food flowing from the Norfolk Snowsports Club kitchens, the helpers and competitors were well fed in advance of the racing while the dedicated few set out the course.

The temperature was not exactly Alpine – and the competition was decidedly hot – when Special Olympics Norfolk (SON) hosted its third Eastern Region skiing competition at the Norfolk Snowsports Club at Trowse.

More than 50 skiers took part in the event last month, including 13 representing SON, the county branch of a national and international organisation that provides sporting opportunities for people with learning disabilities.

Snowsport England Alpine Calendar Reminder

The SSE Alpine Committee has committed itself to encouraging all regions and clubs to increasing race entrants within the 2018 calendar by 10% over last year. We are seeking increases from existing racers but also asking you to support new unique club members who have not entered our races before. This applies to GBRs, CNs, Inter-regional and Inter-club races.
