Izzy and Woodsy head to X-Games as packed calendar continues

Just when it seems like the action is winding down in preparation for PyeongChang, the busy winter sports calendar continues towards the end of the month. The biggest event this week is the X-Games in Aspen, Colorado which starts on Thursday.

James Woods will be competing at the event for the sixth straight year while Izzy Atkin has been invited to her second event.

Alex Tilley and Dave Ryding both competed in alpine World Cups yesterday and the pre-Olympics season is not over yet with other events still to come.

Vacancy on the Snowsport England Schools Technical Advisory Committee

Invitations are invited from practicing teachers to join the Snowsport England Schools Technical Advisory Committee.

The committee meets three times a year at SSE offices at Loughborough (travelling expenses are paid); meetings are scheduled to last no more than three hours.

Breakthrough victory for Taylor highlights weekend action

On the final weekend of World Cup competition before the athletes selected for PyeongChang are announced, it was the non-Olympic discipline of Telemark which produced Britain’s top result.

Jasmin Taylor has been knocking on the door of World Cup glory since earning her first podium in 2013, and it finally opened for her on Saturday in the USA.

Championship Ski and Snowboard prize-giving edit released

Rising freestyle skiing and snowboarding stars were recognised in October at the prize-giving for GB Park and Pipe’s online video league, Championship Ski and Snowboard (CSS). A short film from the event has now been released and can be seen here:


Atkin podium highlights busy World Cup weekend

Slopestyle skier Izzy Atkin claimed her first podium of 2017/18 to showcase her Olympic intentions and headline British World Cup performances over the weekend.

There were also top ten performances from James Woods and the men’s sprint cross country team while Jasmin Taylor claimed two more podiums at the Telemark World Cup.

James Woods and Izzy Atkin’s performances in Aspen have been the highlights of a busy week for British skiers and the competition doesn’t let up as we approach the weekend.

Across five countries through Europe and North America, British skiers will take to the World Cup circuit in Alpine, Cross Country, Aerials, Slopestyle, Ski Cross and Telemark over the next three days.
