Welcome Back Katie Ormerod!

Katie Ormerod is back in training and pain free for the first time since the devastating injury that ruined her Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, last year. Now, after seven operations, Katie is ready to begin work again out on the slopes.

The 21-year-old British snowboarder from Brighouse, in West Yorkshire, was one of Team GB’s medal hopefuls at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics last February. However, her dreams of winning a medal were cut short after she split her right heel in two while training on the slopestyle course, just days before the competition got under way.

Earlier this week Katie began training again and appeared to be in high spirits in her recent photo at Castleford indoor snow centre. Taking to Twitter, she said: “YAY! Back on my board and for the first time in almost a year I had no pain! Honestly can’t explain how stoked I am right now!”.

The multiple World Cup medallist will continue training indoors before heading back to the mountains.

Welcome back Katie – and good luck out on the snow. Fingers crossed for some more podium finishes soon!
