Committees, advisory groups and action teams sit at the heart of Snowsport England’s success, helping bring our Inspiring Snowsport strategy to life.

CURRENT COMMITTEES

The Board of Directors is made up of a group of volunteer non-executive directors (plus the CEO), some of whom have a snowsports background and others of which has experience in other sports or organisations.
The board’s role is to ensure the organisation is well governed for the members and to help set the overall vision, mission and high-level strategy for the organisation (in consultation with the other groups). The non-executive directors on the board are not involved in the day-to-day running of the organisation.

The Alpine Committee is responsible for organising and running Snowsport England alpine ski racing events, both on snow and on artificial surfaces.
The committee also supports other alpine activities, including training on snow and artificial slopes. It develops and delivers training for officials, creating clear pathways to help them progress, including routes into the Technical Delegate pathway.
In addition, the committee recruits and appoints key officials for Snowsport England events, and contributes ideas and rule developments to the GBR Alpine and Telemark TD forum.

The Freestyle Committee organises and administers events in within the freestyle and snowboard disciplines. They also support the programme management of disciplines where Snowsport England operates a squad. This also includes supporting grassroots projects, such as Futures Project.
The Freestyle Committee also ensures rules and regulations are up to date in all disciplines where domestic activity takes place.They develop and deliver officials training for the discipline – agreeing a clear pathway to encourage officials to progress – ultimately linking with the Technical Delegate (TD) pathway. They recruit and appoint the key officials for Snowsport England events.

The Nordic Committee organises and administers events in within nordic disciplines. They support the programme management of disciplines where Snowsport England operates a squad. This includes supporting grassroots projects through varying campaigns.

The Coaching Advisory Group aim to provide a world-class national coaching scheme that enables participants to access and excel in the sport at every level. This will be accompanied by accessible coach education that creates and maintains a high-quality and diverse workforce, serving the needs of the sport.

The Talent Advisory Group (TAG) is made up of representatives from across all of the home nations: Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport Cymru Wales and GB Snowsport.
It has been designed to create a unified and cohesive approach to talent development across the UK, sharing knowledge, resource and ideas to collaborate. The ultimate aim of this group is to increase the UK’s medal count at major international events.
Additional members of the group bring in expertise to support our aim from other sports and organisations. The TAG is made up of sub groups with discipline specific experts from across all four organisations to build pathways from local to national.

The Finance and Compliance Committee lead across all areas of finance and governance, and exists to ensure that the organisation is meeting all professional requirements. This group comprises of members of the board and staff team. At times external members will be brought in to support case management and complaints.

Our Inclusion Action Group takes responsibility for ensuring the delivery of our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, Snowsport for Everyone. Led by board and staff, accountability will be taken to ensuring our organisation continues to develop inclusive practises, policies and processes.

Snowsport England is reliant on external funding, and the Commercial Group has been formed to aid the organisation in becoming less financially dependent and more self-sufficient. This will allow us to invest more funding back into the sport, through facilities, clubs and pathway athletes. This group also aims to increase revenue across the whole industry, helping the sport continue to grow and flourish.

The Social and Marketing Committee for Snowsport England focuses on promoting the organisation and growing engagement across the snowsports community. It advises on social media, website and CRM as well as the promotion of core organisational strands, such as membership and courses. The committee helps raise awareness, attract participants and strengthen the organisation’s overall brand and reach.

The Sustainability Committee provides strategic oversight and practical guidance on reducing the environmental impact of snowsports while ensuring the long-term sustainability of its sports, its facilities and participants.
