Sarah is proud to be Olympian in Alpine Skiing, representing Team GB at the Calgary 1988 Olympic Winter Games. Now she’s a consultant, mentoring start-ups and athletes transitioning from sport, a non-executive director and advisory board member. Her connection with Snowsport England began in 1977 when she joined Sandown Park Ski Racing Club and was selected to the English Junior Squad the next year (and has still got the selection letters and training reports!) Alongside ski racing, Sarah undertook an apprenticeship in the ski business and transitioned to work in the sport industry and ski media, including as a public relations consultant for the English Ski Council, and member of the voluntary English Junior Ski Squad management. She moved to the British Ski Federation as alpine director from 1990-1994 after it was newly constituted. The most significant period of her career was spent living in Switzerland working at the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS). Initially as Continental Cup Coordinator, before being appointed Secretary General, serving for 22 years until 2020. After 20 years as FIS Secretary General, in 2018 Sarah was awarded an OBE on the Queen's New Year Honours List for services to sport. She returned to the UK in 2024 and is undertaking several roles which focus on improving society through the power of sport. Having the opportunity to return to my roots and contribute to Snowsport England and enable others to experience joy through snowsports like I have, is a privilege. https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarah-lewis-obe-oly/

David’s love for Snowsports started with a familiar story – the school ski trip. Once his own children came along, that love for the mountains naturally turned into an annual family tradition. His interest in competitive skiing grew when his daughter joined their local ski club and began entering fun races, which soon led to national-level competitions. Inspired by her journey, David started racing himself before gradually shifting his focus to volunteer roles within the sport. Over time, this led to him becoming a Level 4 official. David not only sits on the Snowsport England Alpine Committee, but also serves as the safeguarding lead for the North East Snowsports Association (NESA) and as a committee member at RTR. His passion lies in making Snowsports accessible to everyone and in helping SnowSport England drive a clear, inclusive pathway from grassroots to elite levels. He’s always keen to connect with members, so if you have thoughts or ideas to share, don’t hesitate to get in touch!
