what is THE women’s snowsport collective?
The Women’s Snowsport Collective (WSC) is a network created by Snowsport England to connect, support and empower women who coach, instruct—or aspire to lead—in snowsports.
It provides a dedicated space for women in skiing and snowboarding to share experiences, build confidence and grow together.
Why the women’s snowsport Collective?
Women have been underrepresented in snowsports coaching roles for many years. After reviewing Snowsport England data, we discovered that just five per cent of advanced snowsports coaches and instructors are women.
In 2023, we commissioned a research project with Loughborough University, which investigated this topic. We learnt that there were many barriers for women looking to progress in snowsports coaching, from lack of mentoring opportunities to difficulty obtaining qualifications.
The Women’s Snowsport Collective is part of our commitment to achieving UK Sport’s Equality Standard, which helps to highlight and address barriers to gender equality in the sport sector. It’s also a major step within our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, which is a requirement for all Sport England funded partners.
Our mission is to ensure that every individual, regardless of gender, has ‘genuine and equal opportunities’ to participate in snowsports at all levels and in all roles. That’s why we’ve founded the Women’s Snowsport Collective as a platform for female coaches and instructors to communicate, share experiences and find resources to support their personal and professional growth.

WHAT DOES THE Women’s SNOWSPORT COLLECTIVE INCLUDE?

As part of the Women’s Snowsport Collective, SheLeads is a coaching programme designed to increase the number of qualified female coaches and instructors.
Participants receive professional qualifications, workshops with inspiring female leaders, mentoring and access to a strong peer network.
How DO I JOIN?
It’s simple! Just fill in this form.
We will then add you to the WhatsApp group, as well as our email mailing list. There’s no need to have any prior experience of snowsports instructing or coaching, just an interest in becoming one. We also actively encourage experienced coaches to sign up too.
