An update on athlete and coach Ben Clubb after his accident
The update below is written by and shared with the support of Ben’s family:
Ben Clubb is a well loved athlete, Snowsport England coach and instructor within the snowsports community. Ben has links with UNIQ Snowsports, Norfolk Snowsports Club, MK Race Team, Loughborough Students Snowsports Club and British University and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Snowsports amongst others.
On December 21st, 2025, while skiing in Courchevel, France, Ben suffered an unwitnessed fall that resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) and a C7 spinal fracture. He was airlifted to Grenoble Hospital, where he remained in an induced coma until the New Year. Throughout this time, Ben has been supported by his close family and girlfriend, Ella. Since his accident, Ben has shown incredible strength and determination to pull through the most critical stage – but his journey has only just started.
Ben was recently repatriated and is currently receiving care in an acute rehabilitation unit. Here, he will relearn how to walk and get back to normal living. Ben has said himself that as long as he can walk, he will ski, and has a tremendously positive outlook on his recovery. He is very much looking forward to getting back on his skis and returning to coaching in the future.
Ben’s ski racing community have kindly set up a GoFundMe page to support Ben in getting home and to aid any specialist care and equipment he may need as part of his recovery. Any donations which are not required for Ben’s rehabilitation will be given to charities of organisations that have supported Ben during his recovery.
As he has regained consciousness and awareness, Ben has repeatedly stated how grateful he is for the support and kind words he has received. Ben has very much enjoyed the visits from family and friends since being back in a UK hospital. He states that the support has really helped him stay positive and get through the hard times.
Ben was also fortunate to have membership through Snowsport England meaning he is insured with personal accident cover for the accident. This takes some of the pressure off when considering any financial or logistical aspects of returning to work as a ski instructor.
Ben is recovering well and getting better each and every day. He wants to express his thanks to the snowsports community for their continued love and support throughout his recovery.
