English Moguls Championships returns in style for 2026
The 2026 English Moguls Championships marked a hugely successful return for one of the country’s most exciting freestyle skiing events, bringing together athletes, coaches and supporters from across the moguls community for a memorable celebration of the sport.
A total of 45 competitors took part, representing 12 clubs from around the UK. The event also welcomed several independent competitors, highlighting the growing reach and appeal of moguls skiing across the wider snowsports community.
One of the standout features of the championships was the strong representation from the grassroots development pathway. Large numbers of athletes from both Futures Moguls Sessions at The Snow Centre Manchester and Hemel Hempstead competed, demonstrating the success of these programmes in developing the next generation of moguls skiers.
The Futures Moguls Sessions, now taking place across indoor snow centres around the country, have provided a fantastic feeder pathway into competition, giving athletes regular opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence and progress towards events such as the English Championships. The next wave of Futures Moguls sessions will be released soon, watch this space.
The standard of skiing on display was exceptionally high. For many participants, this was their first major moguls event, yet competitors showcased impressive technical ability, determination and progression throughout the day.
Adding further prestige to the championships was the presence of some of British moguls skiing’s most experienced figures. Among those involved were four current members of the Great Britain Moguls Junior Team, alongside four former GBR Moguls athletes, including two Olympians. Former GBR coaches were also in attendance, creating a unique environment where developing athletes could compete alongside and learn from those who have represented Great Britain at the highest level.
The return of the English Moguls Championships represents an important milestone for the discipline. Bringing together the next generation of athletes with current and former elite performers created an inspiring and positive environment that showcased the strength of the sporting pathway from grassroots participation through to international competition.
Reflections from the Day
Jeff Fairburn, Moguls Head Coach for Great Britain, praised the event as a fantastic showcase of the progress being made within British moguls skiing. Jeff highlighted the quality of skiing throughout the competition, the enthusiasm shown by athletes of all ages and abilities, and the positive impact of creating opportunities for competitors to test themselves in a dedicated moguls environment. He also commended all athletes for their commitment, effort and sportsmanship, noting that the future of British moguls skiing looks extremely promising.
