Alexis Mercier and Emily Evans announced as Final National Squad Coaches for Alpine

We’re pleased to announce that our final two National Squad Coaches for Alpine are Alexis Mercier and Emily Evans.

Alexis Mercier

Alexis has over ten years of alpine coaching experience, most recently as Head Coach of the Men’s Team at the Comité de Ski de Savoie in France. As a former elite alpine athlete, once ranked number one in France and top ten international junior racer, he brings first-hand experience of high-performance competition.

He holds both a French state diploma as a national alpine ski instructor as well as an advanced diploma as a performance coach. Alexis has coached athletes through the ranks to Europa Cup level with several of his former young athletes going on to compete on the World Cup circuit. Under his guidance, athletes have achieved international podium success, including two gold medals at the World Junior Championships and multiple medals at the World University Championships.

With particular expertise in technical development, Alexis combines biomechanics, movement analysis and race tactics to refine skiing technique and maximise performance. His coaching is built around precision, efficiency and individual athlete analysis, translating technical improvements into faster, more effective and consistent skiing.

Alexis recently moved to the UK with his wife, Sophie, and their son, Sacha, who was born in June.

Emily Evans

After first stepping on skis at just two years old at Chatham Ski Centre, Emily has spent almost her entire life involved in ski racing. With 14 years of coaching experience, she brings extensive knowledge and passion to the team.

A Level 3 UKSS coach and ISIA instructor, Emily has built extensive experience across the British racing pathway – starting with dry slope and moving onto snow. She has coached on the Great Britain Children’s Team and is also one of the Head Coaches for the English Schools’ Ski Association (ESSKIA). Her own competitive career highlights include competing at British Team level and representing Great Britain at the 2011 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival (EYOWF).

In May 2016, Emily founded Precise Racing, an independent alpine race academy based in Austria, supporting athletes from U10 to U21. As a female founder in the ski racing industry, she is passionate about creating opportunities and developing pathways for all aspiring racers.

Having coached across both dry slope and alpine racing, from grassroots through to athletes aspiring to compete internationally, Emily brings a broad understanding of the athlete development pathway. Her experience as both a competitor and coach underpins her commitment to developing successful, confident and independent alpine racers.
