Dave Morris announced as National Squad Head Coach for Alpine

We’re pleased to announce that our overall Head Coach and second National Squad Coach for Alpine is Dave Morris.

Dave has dedicated almost 30 years to alpine ski racing and athlete development, coaching skiers at every stage of the pathway, from young club racers taking their first steps on English dry slopes through to FIS racers and athletes on the verge of Europa Cup level. An ISTD Level 4 Coach and CSCF Level 3 Race Coach, Dave has built a reputation as one of the most experienced and respected British alpine coaches working in Europe. He also served as a BASI Trainer, helping develop the next generation of ski instructors and coaches.

Having started his own skiing journey at Silksworth in Sunderland, Dave has a deep appreciation for the vital role that clubs and dry slopes play in introducing young athletes to competition, developing technical skills and fostering a lifelong passion for the sport. His understanding of both dry slope and snow-based racing gives him a unique perspective on the challenges faced by British athletes and the support they need at different stages of their development.

Throughout his career, Dave has lived and worked in France and Italy, building extensive experience within alpine environments and working alongside coaches from across Europe and beyond. Fluent in both French and Italian, he has been exposed to a wide range of coaching approaches and performance pathways, helping shape his belief in combining international best practice with solutions tailored to the realities of developing racers in England.

Dave is also the founder of Podium Ski, a highly regarded training organisation based in Europe that supports aspiring British ski instructors preparing for the Eurotest (or Common Training Test, which is used to assess ski instructors’ skills at a high level).

Based in the French Alps, Dave is passionate about creating more opportunities for young athletes and strengthening connections between clubs, academies, coaches and performance programmes. His focus is on helping more racers enter and progress through the pathway, while raising standards across the sport and building a stronger, broader future for English alpine skiing.
