Snowsport England Announces Key Staff Changes and New Opportunities
May 26, 2026
With the summer season firmly in full swing, Snowsport England have some internal changes to share with the wider community regarding our staff team.
Our Talent Lead, Tom Farenden, has been offered an applied PHD. This is a fantastic opportunity for Tom and we are pleased to have been able to accommodate it. Moving forwards, Tom will be working two days per week for Snowsport England in an amended role as Athlete Development Lead.
He will oversee all programmes and education in relation to athlete development, focused on individuals within the Snowsport England talent pathway, as well as aspiring athletes. He will help prepare them for the next stages in their career at GB Snowsport and beyond/ We know that this role will ensure that our athletes in programmes such as DiSE, TASS and across our squads will continue to receive dedicated support.
As our current talent funding expires in October 2026, a permanent replacement for the additional elements of the role will not be confirmed until later this year.
In the meantime, we are hiring a Pathway and Competitions Co-ordinator on a fixed term contract to provide some backfill and ongoing support, whilst internally some movement will allow additional support for our talent pathways. Applications for this role are now closed.
Hayley Phillips, Marketing Lead, joined Snowsport England with a military background and has remained an active reservist in the RAF. She has been offered a permanent role back with the RAF and will be returning to them full-time later this year. Whilst she will no longer be working for Snowsport England in a permanent role, she will remain a core part of the team in her new role as Military and Partnerships Liaison. Hayley will continue to create opportunities to engage new members within the organisation, working across key relationships and building new partnerships. We are pleased that we will be able to retain Hayley in this capacity to continue to build on the great work she has already done.
Calum Pitkethley, our Events Co-ordinator, will sadly be leaving Snowsport England on Friday 5 June. He has been offered an exciting opportunity and will be remaining within snowsports in a new role. Calum joined Snowsport England into a brand new position, one that has grown to be an integral part of the organisation. He has worked on events of all kinds – from the snow shows to the English Alpine Championships, and everything in between. He leaves having made a positive impact on the organisation and wider sport. We wish Calum the very best of luck for the future, knowing he won’t be a stranger to snowsports.
Looking ahead, we are recruiting a new Events Co-ordinator (applications for this role are now closed).
We know the whole snowsports community will join us in wishing Tom, Hayley and Calum the best of luck in their new opportunities.
