The Alpine Head Performance Coach (Level 3) qualification is designed for experienced coaches working with competitive alpine athletes, including FIS-level skiers. It develops your ability to plan, lead, and manage full seasonal programmes while mentoring other coaches and shaping athlete performance at the highest club level.
With this award, you’ll be able to lead performance programmes for developing and elite athletes, working both in the UK and internationally within structured club and academy environments.

Minimum Age
18+ years-old - this is recommended due to level of responsibility and experience required
Prerequisites
- Alpine Club Performance Coach (Level 2) or equivalent
- Be actively coaching athletes at a competitive level (typically U16–FIS)

Six days
Assessment
Ongoing assessment during the course and through workplace training

- Independently in a mountain environment (UK)
- International alpine environments (within UK Snowsport coaching protocols)
- Indoor snow centres
- Artificial slopes
Who is this qualification for?
This qualification is designed for:
· Experienced club coaches working with performance-level alpine athletes
· Coaches responsible for FIS or junior national-level development groups
· Individuals looking to lead coaching teams and manage structured performance programmes
WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?
During the course, you’ll develop the advanced skills needed to lead performance environments, including:
· Designing and delivering annual performance coaching programmes
· Coaching and developing FIS-level and high-performance athletes
· Leading and mentoring a team of coaches within a club structure
· Advanced technical analysis and performance planning
· Managing athlete development across physical, technical, and tactical domains
· Applying long-term athlete development principles in a high-performance context
You’ll also strengthen your leadership, communication, and decision-making skills within complex performance environments.
Working towards accreditation
To complete your Level 3 qualification:
-Complete the full training course
- Build and submit a detailed coaching portfolio over the qualification period
- Demonstrate applied coaching competence in a live performance environment
- Hold current Snowsport England membership
Additional requirements for licensing include: valid First Aid, safeguarding training and DBS check
