The Cross-Country Ski Coach (Level 3) qualification builds on your instructing experience, equipping you with the knowledge, technical understanding and coaching skills to work with skiers from beginner to advanced level.
With this award, you'll be able to plan and deliver long-term coaching programmes, adapt your coaching to meet individual needs, and play a leading role in developing skiers, instructors and your club.
Cross-Country Ski COACH - Level 3
QUALIFICATION OVERVIEW
Minimum age
18 years-old
Pre-requisites
- Cross-Country Ski Instructor (Level 2) or recognised equivalent
- Demonstrate an appropriate standard in both classic and skate skiing (typically Snowsport England 5* On-Snow Proficiency or equivalent).
- A minimum of 40 hours of on-snow instructional experience, recorded in your logbook (or equivalent)
- Complete a coaching portfolio demonstrating your work with skiers over a sustained period

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

· Analyse skiing technique and provide effective, individualised feedback.
· Adapt coaching sessions to meet the needs of different skiers, groups and learning styles.
· Use video and other coaching tools to support athlete development.
· Develop safe, inclusive and engaging coaching environments.
· Apply advanced knowledge of equipment, waxing, training principles and risk management.
· Support the development of instructors and aspiring coaches.
Working towards YOUR LICENCE
To complete your Level 3 qualification, you need to:
Meet all prerequisite requirements
Successfully complete the training and assessment course
Hold current Snowsport England membership
Additional requirements for licensing include: valid First Aid, safeguarding training and DBS check.
NEXT STEPS
Once qualified, you can progress to the Cross-Country Ski Coach (Level 4), where you'll further develop your expertise in athlete development, mentoring other coaches and leading coaching programmes.
